Commuter Spotlight
Every day, NY Waterway welcomes thousands of valued customers aboard our ferries, and we are so thankful for your continued loyalty. As a small token of our appreciation, we’d like to highlight a Waterway rider who has made a habit of choosing “The Better Way to Go.”
Ann Wilkinson has been a regular customer since the summer of 2010, and she quickly realized ferry service is the best way to travel, “It’s so nice to take a cruise to and from work every day,” she said. Ann, who buys an Edgewater monthly pass so she can use both the Edgewater and Port Imperial ferries, commutes five days a week to her job in Manhattan.
The unbeatable scenery and calming atmosphere are two of her favorite things about riding the ferry. “The view from the middle of the Hudson is something special, and it sure beats the tunnel and bridge traffic or sitting wedged in a bus as it makes its thousandth stop along the road to the Lincoln Tunnel.”
While the trip itself is a pleasure, the real selling point is the reliability of the ferries, which has been even more important during this unpredictable winter. “The boats are always on time and operate even when the weather is horrendous,” said Ann, whose door-to-door commute takes 40 minutes or less.
Although raised in New Jersey, Ann moved back to the area in January 2010 after living in a tiny mountain town in Utah for 12 years. She manages a shippers' association in New York City and is also a professional photographer.
Thank you, Ann, for sharing your story. We look forward to seeing you on the water!
